National health care law vital to Mississippi

April 7, 2017, The Clarion Ledger, Bennie Thompson- The Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act was passed by Congress and became law in 2010. It was the basis for providing health insurance coverage for 24 million Americans, reducing cost increases and removing a number of barriers to coverage for entire groups of citizens, namely women and young adults. Despite these accomplishments, President Trump promised to repeal and replace the ACA on his first day in office. While only 17 percent of Americans supported the president’s repeal plan, he continued to pursue his irrational approach with the help of congressional Republicans. Thankfully, they failed, and those 24 million Americans will be able to keep their health insurance.
